Troitskoye Predmestye (Trinity Suburb) in Minsk, Belarus
Troitskoye Predmestye (Trinity Suburb, Траецкае прадмесце) is a historical area in Minsk, it's situated on left bank of the river Svisloch.

A lot of suburb's buildings were not kept till our time. Nevertheless, the western part of Trinity Suburb has been restored in XX century. It isn't historical reconstruction, some buildings are graceful stylization. Nevertheless, walking in this small suburb is very pleasant.

Not the Zoo, but the Redpath Museum of Natural History!

Admission to Montreal's Redpath Museum is free (a favourite word of mine)!

Montreal -- making the new old!

Workmen re-cobbling Urban Street in the Old Port.  This street was a regular paved road last year (they're actually doing a lot of repair/refurbishment work in the Old Port this year).  I was busted taking this picture by one of the working guys. So much for candid shots...

    Mitchell's Wind on the Altiplano

     We watched and counted
    (forty-one-one-thousand, forty-two
    -one-thousand)
    as the bright wool scarf
cloud bank topped the mountain and descended
    in a frothy tsunami.
The plain seemed flat like glass or pavement
from my perch onthe rock ridge, and
    I remember that the prairie,
    any prairie,
never wants or needs your falsehoods.

The plains don't give a flying fuck if you're
self-conscious or insecure or a sinner or a millionaire.
    To Mitchell's wind,
    you will never be anything
    than your barest bones
    covered in transparent flesh
gossamer for all it protects you.
    You can cover up
what you've been taught to be ashamed of,
like a skinny dipper with cruel friends
but no one is watching you here.

    Bogoyavlensky Monastery in Kostroma (Russia)
Bogoyavlensky (Bogoyavlensko-Anastasyin, Epiphany) Male Monastery (Богоявленский, Богоявленско-Анастасьин монастырь) is a Russian Ortodox monastery in Kostroma which was founded in XV century by Nikita who was a disciple and a relative by Sergy Radonezhsky.

In 1559 the construction of the monastic Bogoyavlensky (Epiphany) Cathedral was begun. In 1570 some monks from the monastery were accused of the supporting to Vladimir of Staritsa and punished by Ivan the Terrible.

In XVII century the monastic house and the bell tower were constructed. It's interesting that the bell tower was a simple tower of the walls and was reconstructed as a belltower in XIX century. Also in XIX century the Сhapel and additional facilities for Bogoyavlensky Cathedral were constructed.

After the Revolution the Monastery was abolished. The renaissance of monastery as a female one began in 1990s years. Now in the Monastery Fedorovskaya Icon of Virgin is situated. In our days the passage to the monastery is prohibited.
